Usability and customer services need continual improving at our Boston Public Library beginning with improving how the front line BPL staff are supervised. BPL Managers and Supervisors have made a routine workplace that is oppressive and that effect is experienced by library clientele as offputting. It’s not enough to say that public is welcome. It has to be the actual experience with BPL folks behind the counters and desks.

Note that this beautiful building could not have been built if the anti-development bill currently being proposed by the Back Bay representative had been in effect at the time that IM Pei proposed this Boston icon.
