INCIDENTS

Larceny – Pick-pocket

12/18/15 – At around 3:30 p.m., officers responded to a reported larceny at 197 Clarendon St.

The victim told police her credit card was stolen from her purse, which she accidentally left behind at a restaurant on Dartmouth Street.

When the victim restaurant to the restaurant to retrieve her purse, the greeter said two males she had observed sitting across from her earlier had turned it over before exiting the establishment.

The victim’s credit card was subsequently used to buy $2,338 worth of clothing at G-Star Raw at 160 Newbury St., as well as for another purchase at Starbucks at 165 Newbury St.

The manager of G-Star Raw said two individuals matching the victim’s descriptions of the suspects used the card at the store at approximately 2:11 p.m.

The manager said one of the suspects had attempted to purchase items with two additional credit cards, but both left the store when asked to produce ID.

The manager said there is no security video of the incident.

Robbery – Other

12/27/15 – At approximately 5:06 p.m., police responded to a radio call for an unarmed robbery at the Citizens Bank at 426 Boylston St.

Upon arrival, officers met with the victim, who said he was attempting to deposit funds into his checking account at the ATM about 10 minutes earlier. When the victim typed in his PIN number, he said an unknown male suspect began hitting buttons on the machine, withdrawing an unknown amount of money from the victim’s checking account. The suspect then seized the money, along with the victim’s ATM card, before jumping on a bicycle and traveling inbound on Boylston Street.

A transit officer on the scene said he was parked in the area at the time of the robbery and observed an individual matching the suspect’s description riding a bicycle on Boylston Street towards Arlington Street. The officer was unaware that any crime had been committed at that time, but after learning of the incident, assisted in searching the area for the suspect.

Meanwhile, a police radio broadcast revealed that an officer had stopped an individual on a bicycle in the vicinity of 100 Boylston St.

Police read the victim the Boston Police Department’s witness instructions before the suspect was brought back to the crime scene. The victim positively identified the suspect, but officers were unable to locate the victim’s money or ATM card.

The suspect was then placed under arrest and transported to District 4 headquarters for booking on unarmed robbery charges.

The suspect’s bike was also transported to headquarters for safekeeping.

Police advised the victim to cancel his debit card, and to ascertain how much money the suspect had taken from him.
