The Boston Ward 5 Democratic Committee did not endorse a mayoral candidate during its regular September meeting, held on Monday, Sept. 9, in the Back Bay.

A roll call vote of members was taken, and no candidate received a 2/3 majority of votes – a requirement according to committee rules to earn an endorsement.

The results of the roll call vote were as follows:

13 votes for John Connolly, nine votes for Mike Ross, two votes for Marty Walsh, one vote for Felix Arroyo one vote for Charlotte Golar Richie and one vote for

Rob Consalvo. Also, one member voted “present.”

Three candidates – Connolly, Ross and Charles Yancey – appeared before the committee during the meeting. Four additional candidates sent surrogates to speak on their behalf.

The committee can consider endorsements in the mayoral race again after the preliminary election.
