Demonstration/Riot

10/31/11 – At about 12:40 p.m., a Boston Police sergeant heard a radio call for a group pf Occupy Boston protestors marching down Huntington Avenue towards Massachusetts Avenue.

Police observed the group marching down Massachusetts Avenue in the direction of Newbury Street. Once on Newbury Street, the group changed their formation and began walking down the center of the street against traffic. Protestors, who numbered between 30 and 40, stopped traffic while using a loudspeaker and playing drums.

The sergeant got in front of the group and led them against the flow of traffic to avoid collisions between protesters and motor vehicles.  Other officers on detail in the area began stopping traffic on Newbury Street and side streets to avoid the group.

The group took a right turn onto Exeter Street before making a left turn onto Boylston Street. Officers had to stop traffic on the side streets leading to Arlington Street and behind the protestors.

Protestors stopped at Arlington and Boylston streets, where they laid down in the center of the street for approximately five to seven minutes as one of the protestors began shouting rhetoric over his loudspeaker.

Drivers grew incensed by the group, blowing  their horns in attempt to get protestors to move. At this time, the protestors returned to their feet and began marching in the direction of the Boston Common.
