Robbery – Firearm – Business

05/09/11 – At about 9:58 p.m., officers responded to a radio call for a male suspect dressed in all black clothing and a black ski mask with a handgun seen on foot in the area of Newbury and Fairfield streets.

On arrival, police spoke with an employee at Emack & Bolio’s ice-cream shop at 290 Newbury St. who stated that she was cleaning the freezer in preparation for clothing when the suspect entered the premises.

The employee said the suspect was hunched over, and when she turned to wait on him, he brandished a black semi-automatic pistol and ordered her to hand over all the money in the register. The employee complied by removing the cash drawer and placing it in the counter before the suspect removed the money.

The suspect asked the employee where the rest of the money was kept before fleeing the premises. The employee stated that she observed the suspect on foot, running towards Fairfield Street.

Responding units searched the area for the suspect to no avail.
