Investigate Person

01/05/11 – At about 10:23 a.m., officers were dispatched to Borders bookstore at 511 Boylston St. for a report of a suspected shoplifter on the premises.

Upon arrival, officers spoke to an employee, who reported that an unknown male, suspected of shoplifting on Nov. 26 and Dec. 31, 2010, was in the store.  The employee further stated that the worker who witnessed the alleged theft wasn’t working at the time and didn’t make a copy of the incident on DVD.

The employee told police that he would attempt to make a copy of the incident on DVD and contact them when it became available.

Officers subsequently identified and conducted a FIO (Field Intelligence Observation) of the suspect. The suspect informed police that he was recently released from jail and had served time for larceny and shoplifting-related crimes.

At the request of Borders, the suspect was advised that he was trespassing and would be arrested if he returned to the store.
