The season to be jolly

A stroll down Newbury Street during the day in the weeks before Christmas is a literal stroll in a winter wonderland.

The decorations from store to store are fabulous. The look and the feel of the entire street resonates with the season. Throngs of shoppers have crowded into the stores and the restaurants giving rise to the belief held among many local retailers that this Christmas season will be among one of the best in recent years.

Despite the persistent recession, Back Bay remains resilient and strong.

Real estate prices don’t reflect the national real estate catastrophe going on. Rentals are strong. There are some noticeable vacancies here and there on Newbury Street but by and large, business goes on and appears to be getting a bit better.

Back Bay is vibrant and very much alive and even confident during this Christmas season.

What could be better than that?
